New Zealand shooting: World leaders react to Christchurch mosque attacks

World leaders and officials expressed their disgust at the mass shooting at two mosques in New Zealand on Friday that left 49 people dead and scores injured, with some citing rising “Islamophobia” as being responsible for the act of terrorism.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan warned of new attacks like the “New Zealand massacre” on Friday unless strong measures are taken by the world, particularly by Western nations.

Germany’s Angela Merkel called the attack on the Muslims an attack on New Zealand’s democracy and the open and tolerant society.

In an early morning tweet, U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the “horrible massacre” and offered his administration’s support to New Zealand.
